Aimed at those interested in progressing in field training, our private
camps have become hugely popular! Choose any 5 day period
(year-round) and join us for highly individualized, one-on-one training
with you and your dog. Limited to either one handler with 2 dogs, or
2 handlers with one dog each, the training day begins at 9 am with yard
work appropriate for the camper's dog(s). Following that, the kennel
dogs will be worked and you will have an opportunity to see a wide range
of skill level, temperaments and talent at various yard drills such as
force fetch, collar conditioning (we have TriTronics collars available for
sale at competitive prices) and pile work. Following yard work, we'll
take a lunch break, then
head out into the field for land and water marks and blinds, if needed.
The day concludes about 4 pm with a second yard session for the camper and
dog. You will begin to develop an effective training program for
your dog, and 5 days of intense training allows you to see real progress
over the course of the week.
Camps may be scheduled year-round, and may span weekends
when possible. Our hunt test and field trial schedule sometimes
precludes a weekend camp, but we will do our best to accommodate you.
We are often booked months in advance, so we do suggest making
reservations early.
Fees:
Monday - Friday dates: $400.00 for one handler with one
dog, or $600.00 for one handler with 2 dogs, or 2 handlers with one dog
each.
Camps scheduled to span any part
of a weekend: add $100.00 per weekend day, regardless of the number of
dogs/handlers. For example: 2 handlers with one dog each, beginning
Sunday and concluding Friday, the cost would be $700.00 total. A camp
that runs from Friday through Tuesday would cost $800.00 in total.
A $100.00 non-refundable deposit must accompany all
reservations to guarantee a spot for you. Camp applications may be
found here.
Camps are best for those who have a good idea of where
they want to progress in training. The ability to spend 5 days in a
row working on specific concepts can help you plan your own training
program based on that progression. In addition, you will also follow
a typical training week's progress with dogs at similar (or higher) skill
levels. If you are simply wondering if you and your dog are ready to begin
field training, or whether you would like to progress from the point you
have already reached, you might want to check out our annual seminars.
